We love our pups here in Simi Valley. In the early morning, you can often find dozens of both large and small dogs walking up and the neighborhood streets. With this in mind, it may come as a surprise that there aren't many dog parks in Simi Valley. In fact, the only Simi dog park is Big Sky Park. Which is unfortunate, as it's not exactly in a convenient location for most residents of Simi Valley.
Simi Dog Park
Located at the Northern most point of Simi Valley, within the Big Sky Community, the fenced Simi Dog Park in Simi Valley, CA offers a great opportunity for pets to enjoy running and playing without a leash. The park includes separate areas for large and small dogs, as well as amenities such as water, parking, and picnic tables. The park is way up in the hills, which is great for the scenic views. However, on windy days, the winds up there can get really strong. When the Santa Anna Winds are blowing, it may be a good idea to keep Toto at home, or he may find himself being blown away to Oz.
Conejo Creek Dog Park
Just outside of Simi Valley is Conejo Creek Dog Park, a 3 1/2 acre park located within the neighboring city of Thousand Oaks, CA. This is actually a much more convenient Park than Simi Dog Park for those living in West Simi Valley, particularly in the Wood Ranch area. The park was created with the intention of providing a space for the local community's dogs and their human companions to enjoy. There are designated areas for small dogs (weighing under 30 lbs) and large dogs (weighing over 30 lbs). The facility includes water fountains for dogs, dispensers for waste bags, picnic tables, shaded areas, benches, and lighting. It's important to note that the park is closed for maintenance on Thursdays from 7:00am to 9:00am, and for the whole day on every third Thursday.
Simi Valley Parks and Trails
Just because Simi Dog Park is the only leash-less park in Simi Valley, that doesn't mean that your puppy pal won't enjoy the other parks around town. At last count, there were about 37 parks in all. With plenty of grass, trees, and wildlife for the dogs to enjoy. In addition to this, there are tons of hiking trails, perfect for getting your furry friends out of the house and plenty of exercise.
